Proud.

Proud. There are a lot of things in my life that I am proud of but today after I ran I realized that I am very proud of some recent things. Here they are from 5 to 1. . .

5. I am proud that I still have $23 of blow money in my wallet and it is the 25th!!!!
4. I am proud that my principal said some really nice things to my mom about me last week.
3. I am proud of my husband for doing The Biggest Loser with me even though I get to hear about his soreness for days and days after each workout. . .
2. I am proud of the poems the kids in my class have written in the last week even though I really have nothing to do with them. . .
1. I am proud of myself for running and truly training for this half marathon. I am also very, very, very proud that now I can officially touch my toes when I am stretching after running.

. . . and humble too
I know that If when my dad reads this he will say “yeah and humble too.” I am so thankful each day that I know the Lord and my 45 mile one way commute has given us a lot of time to spend together lately. I am super blessed and amazed at every day and how he works in my life. I give him all the glory because without him I would be nothing and without his goodness I still would be able to only touch my ankle when I stretch. . .

Rules:
1. Open your first photo folder on your computer
2. Scroll to the 10th picture
3. Post that picture and the story behind it

well here it is :)

The story, Ryan and I were at the Henning Festival, my FIRST Henning Festival and when I wanted to document it he thought he would be cute and show his gum :) Just because it is such a random mix of pictures I thought I would put the next picture in too. This is Randy Euken and Michelle teaching Aimee (yes AIMEE WHITE) how to drive a tractor.
Vicki, and Kylie, and whoever else reads this, you are it :-)

Computer Problems

No, not at home, at school. Tuesday as I walked into the building there was a note on the door that said "please do not turn your computer on." Thinking nothing of it, I figured it was a minor thing and it would be fixed by the time the kids came. . . BOY. WAS. I. WRONG! (The temperature controlled room that our server is stored in overheated from 60* to 105* and EVERYTHING crashed. . . They are in the stages of recovering it and hoping to have it ready Monday. . . The good news is, it was district wide so it was not just our school)
Tuesday was kind of peaceful without having to run and check my email and worry about answering any emails. . . Wednesday a little frustration set in as I could not print off homework for my kids. I also wrote about 6 poems out on charts that are all saved on my computer. . . Thursday we had trouble doing our math review as I was trying to draw grids and shapes on the board. Ask my mom. She was there and witnessed the wonderfulness of changing a test review routine that you have done for the last 8 tests and all of a sudden have to change for the 9th. and Friday, well let's just say my improvisation skills have been refined. My friend Amy and I had our kids watch a Magic School Bus video as we could not access our pictures and lesson plans for Health. We also spent some time playing math games with all of our kids in one room because we had planned to work in the computer lab. . . I have a smartboard in my room which I LOVE! One of the things I pride myself on as a teacher is my use of technology. Not only am I not able to use my projector and smartboard but I cannot access any of my documents and I really think I would cry if they cannot be recovered! Here is to hoping that God likes District 206 and that he will help our technology team recover our documents!

Bus Duty

Monday: Forgot about bus duty. . . wore light coat. . . no mittens. . . cold and windy. . . chase down a bus to get a kid off who was totally confused and just nodded her head and would not say a word to me.

Tuesday: Brought mittens today. . . and an extra coat. . . picked up three playground balls from the parking lot. . . two sixth graders hit balls out of my hands. . . nice

Wednesday: Rainy. . . had raincoat. . . stepped in BIG puddle. . . 3rd grader that I don't know gave me a hug as she walked by and said she would see me tomorrow (I assumed she thought I was someone else). . . she came back and asked what grade I taught and said "Bye Mrs. Teacher Lady". . . Chased a bus to get a kid on the bus

Thursday & Friday: To Be Determined

Does it get any better than this?

PS: Overheard some funny conversations in my room today. One was a debate about whether we would have a day off tomorrow due to the rain (not snow, just rain) the other was when they were looking at organs we had pulled out of a human body model with a little girl holding up the kidney and telling me it was the smll stumik (small stomach) that sits on top of your regular stumik so you don't get too full. . . she also had the lungs labeled as the ribs and the bladder labeled "guts" I LOVE MY JOB oh and when I made a boy write an apology note to a para that he was disrespectful to at recess he ended it with "even though Laura did it first and you were not smart enough to catch her."

Spring Break

There are many things I have accomplished this week including:
what felt like 500 loads of laundry
working out each day
cleaning our apartment
working on my unit I have to design for school
reading
and this:

I spent this morning cooking and making things that can go into the freezer that will help me as I continue to TRY and train for this half marathon. (I use try because as hard as i try, my asthma has not been cooperating lately) I got everything packaged to fill the freezer and this will be at least 8 or 9 meals for us. EXCITING!
Up Next: Scrapbooking :)
