Place In My Heart

There is a group of people that have a special place in my heart.  Homeless people simply tug at my heart.  I can't explain it but my heart breaks for them and I long to help them every time I see them on the corner with a sign.  My heart aches every time I have to drive by with nothing to give them.  When Leo was in the hospital, we saw lots and lots of homeless people on the corners on our way to the hospital.  After seeing an idea on pinterest, I realized how easy it would be to help.  I put together a few of these:

They are called blessing bags.  They contain food, gloves, hats, and other items a homeless person might need.  We are blessed enough to have money to spend at target so I picked up what I thought someone who is homeless and hungry might need.  I simply put them on the floor in the back of my car until we saw someone that needed them.  We were privileged to give them out to a few different people.  Their reactions were priceless, I thought one lady might try and kiss Ryan!  What a humbling experience to be able to help others and see the pure joy on their face.

Two Months!

Leo is two months old!  He is growing like crazy!  The doctor said that everything looks good.  She did put him on some medicine for reflux which is common in preemies and it seems to be helping.  We don't have to go back again until four months as long as we stay healthy!!!  Continue to pray for health please :-)  Here are his stats from his doctor's appointment on Tuesday:
Weight 7lb 9oz
Height 20.5 inches
He is still in newborn clothes, he fills them out better now though.  Leo is also a lot more awake after he eats and can stay awake for up to an hour at a time!

Likes:
Trying on Mommy's new hats
His pacifier

Bath time and the sweet hair that follows!
 Tummy time!

 Dislikes:
 Shots- OUCH!
Sleeping more than three hours at night :-(
Spitting up
Having his back scratched
Being burped

Leo, you are a true gift from God.  Your dad and I are continually amazed by the ways we can see God's work in your body.  We love watching you grow and are excited to see the plans God has for your life.

From The Little Mister

Hey everyone!  It's me, the junior Mr. Miller.  Did you know that today is my due date?  Crazy huh!  My mom and dad were telling me this morning that they cannot believe I have been here for 8 weeks already.  They said they were really happy I am here but they wish I would sleep more at night. I personally think they are wimps and I will sleep when I want to sleep, they need to get on my schedule.  I went to the doctor today and they gave me four shots!  They agree that I am a big boy and doing great.  My mom will share my stats later this week in my two month post.
The weather here was awesome today and I took my mom for our very first walk.  My cousin Mollie was kind enough to leave some crumbs in my stroller for me but my meanie mom wouldn't let me have any of them.  Next time I guess. . .
Well I better go, I need to let my mom know that I demand to be held after those nasty shots today. . . Ouch!

P.S. I know I look bald in these pictures. . . Don't worry, I still have my red hair :-)

Love

Happy Valentine's Day!  Leo and I spent the day being loved on by Grammie and Auntie Aimee.  We also got to skype with GGP (Great Grandma Poturalski), Auntie Katie, crazy cousin Mollie, rolly Crosby, and also wish Uncle Tim a happy birthday.

I am so thankful to all of my prayer warriors out there.  If you have a few extra prayers would you pray for some sweet friends of mine:

S: Has hodgkins lymphoma and is nearing the end of her treatment.  Pray for peace for her as they do scans and she completes treatment.

H: Has breast cancer and is pregnant.  She could use prayer for these two things but more so, she has a little angel in heaven waiting for her and Friday is the one year anniversary of her little girl leaving this world and entering into Jesus' glorious presence.  Pray for peace and love to abide in her life this week.

N: Her mom was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.  Pray for peace and continued faith in God's plan.

Lastly, on this Valentine's Day, a reminder:

One Month!

Leo is one month old already!  Can you believe it?!?! We sure can't!  After 1 night in the NICU and 27 days in the Special Care Nursery Leo got to come home on February 6.  We were super excited to bring him home but a little nervous too.  We had a few days of adjustment where Leo didn't eat so great and Ryan and I learned what sleep deprived feels like but we seem to be figuring things out. . .
I can't ever thank the Special Care Nursery staff enough.  When you spend time somewhere for 27 straight days, multiple times a day, you really get to know how it works and the nurses there ROCK!  Some of Leo's favorite nurses were Colleen, Susan, Chris, Peggy, Kathleen, and Kathy.  What an awesome feeling it is to have confidence in the people you leave your child with each day/night.
We had a pediatrician appointment this week as well as an eye doctor appointment.  The pediatrician said everything looks great, she just wants to do weight checks for the next few weeks to make sure he is eating enough.  The eye doctor said Leo's eyes are 96% mature and his retinas look great (preemies are at risk for eye troubles. . . Leo's risks are low but they still check him anyway).  We go back to the eye dr. in 5 weeks.

Now on to the one month stats and fun stuff:
Weight 5lb 5oz
Length 18.5 in

Likes:
Being home with Mom and Dad

 His carseat

Being a big boy and helping hold his own bottle

A hand on his head as he tries to calm down

His pacifier.

Dislikes:
Getting his diaper changed while hungry
Pooping :-(
Waiting to eat
Spending too much time alone.

Leo, you are a true miracle and God has worked in your little body in BIG ways in the last month.  We are so thankful for you and blessed to be your parents.  We are going to love watching you grow and seeing what God has planned for your life!  We love you!
