So there is a second grader at school and I had his brother in my class two years ago. He is a rather spirited boy and I call him “trouble,” affectionately of course. So he calls me trouble as well and yesterday he came over and poked me in the arm and said “hey trouble.” He started to walk away and then remembered something else he had to tell me and proceeded to say “oh and my friend thinks you are cute.” Winning over the hearts of second graders one at a time. . . This my friends is why I teach!

Do you need sunscreen? No I'll be fine. . . Famous last words!
My wonderful parents gave Ryan and I their Twins tickets for Saturday so we could experience Target Field. We had a blast. Here is the outside of the stadium,
The view from the "cheap seats"
Us at the game… Terrible picture, fun game
And my favorite part of the new stadium!
Thanks mom and dad for letting us enjoy the game and for letting Ryan’s knees get the sunburn they deserved!!

and I lived to blog about it!
1. I saw a mouse in the field we were playing elbow tag in this afternoon, pointed it out to the students and watched as it ran for safety.
2. Student: Mrs. Miller, there is a dead bird, you should pick it up so we can see it better. . .
Mrs. Miller: Um do I even have to answer that?
3. I saw THREE snakes on my run on Sunday and although there may have been some jumping, high knees, and running in the middle of the trail, I DID NOT SCREAM! and I kept running!
(if you know me you know I (strong word coming) HATE snakes and would do just about anything in my power to avoid seeing, hearing, encountering them)
Needless to say, I am still alive and my heart is still beating, a little faster maybe but it is still going!

imitate
So my class has been working on a poetry unit. In which we imitate poets and try to do things like they do. I was inspired by my kids in my class and the work they were doing so I tried my own poem and illustrated it in my own way and here is what I came up with. Just wanted to share. . .
In case you can’t read it, the poem is
so much depends upon
A girl
Walking down the aisle
With her daddy by her
Side
And tears in their eyes
As her dreams come
True.
